Putting the Light in

2017. 9. 19 ~ 9. 30
Painters depict the world as they see it and contemplate it in colors. Ray Park’s holograph is not painting, but light. Ray Park uses light to express the world as he sees and contemplates it. His exhibition was designed to allow viewers to see, feel and think through light.
Ray Park has studied painting and engineering and actively participates in exhibitions in Korea and overseas. The works exhibited at this show represent the ‘art of light’ through holography. Unlike other artists who use normal light, Park uses holography to present art that looks like painting and sculpture-like fragments of light. He crafts ‘light photography’ as though taking photos, observing the invisible world inside the world he sees. In broken bulbs, he locates something akin to souls to make holograms; even an image taken after eating a banana shows life and death, as though reflecting an awareness of life and the soul. The artwork The Dream shows a dream from childhood by using a glass box to capture the fleeting holographic image of a rainbow in the sky.
