Kang-Hoon Lee: Doors to Human Being

2017. 9. 12 ~ 9. 30
The artist Kang-Hoon Lee interprets his thesis of human existence through pixel images of doors. The composition of the different doors articulates his ideas of how a human being is like a composite of others, created through human encounters. As human relationships expand, a human being’s personality continues to transform into different compositions.
The artist’s series of Composition lead the viewer to imagine how that sort of transformation of the self might occur. The viewer is left asking a question: “Who am I? Of what composition of others am I made up of?”

Ji-Young Hong: Epidermis

2017. 9. 12 ~ 9. 30
The artist Ji-Young Hong believes modern people’s perspectives have been negatively affected by the mass media. Hence, she has gone deep inside herself to seek an authentic vision of the world that is not under the influence of the media. She invites her audience to view things as she does, a process of which she dubs ’a virtual world.’ In that virtual world, the audience experiences simplified images defined by six different colors that vary through temperature changes. The viewer is free to have his or her own thoughts about this virtual world; in the end, however, the artist strongly encourages all viewers to look to inside themselves to consider how their perspectives in life might be if they were not affected by the mass media.
